A Warm Welcome
Highfield, opened in 2009, provides medium to long-term residential care for up to 4 young people aged between 9-17, of any gender. Since opening, Highfield has developed a strong reputation for delivering positive outcomes for young people.
Highfield is managed by Steven Cooke. Steven has over 28 years’ experience working with children and young people in various settings. He has worked in residential settings for over 12 years caring for young people with learning difficulties and behavioural problems, and over 15 years working in a youth club – eventually becoming youth club leader. Steven is qualified to a level 5 equivalent in Leadership and Management and Working with Children and Young People.
Steven has been the manager at Highfield since it opened in 2009.

Our Facilities
Highfield is a detached property set in a semi-rural location in the village of Brotton in the east of the borough of Redcar and Cleveland and only 2 miles from Saltburn-by-the-sea, a fine seafront destination with a beautiful beach and a wide range of activities available, including surfing. There are a good variety of services including shops, a library, and leisure centre with gym and swimming pool. Located on the Tees Valley Line, Saltburn has excellent links to local and national rail services, and both Brotton and Saltburn are served by frequent bus services.

The staff invest time in the children and young people and promote their welfare at all times. This helps children and young people to invest in the home and feel secure in their permanent placement.
Young people’s meetings give them the opportunity to voice their views and contribute to the decision-making in the home. This allows children and young people a voice and they feel heard by the staff.”
Downstairs the home has an entrance hall, a reception/dining room, lounge, conservatory, kitchen, toilet, and staff office. Upstairs there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms for young people.
“Bedrooms are personalised and children and young people are encouraged to help choose the colour scheme for other communal areas of the home. This is a homely home, which does not stand out in its environment, and the interior is well kept, clean and in no way institutional.”
